  • Anticipated letting: Year 2023
  • Approx. 6.2 mile on mainline
Segment 2 - LA 36 to LA 435
  • Under Construction
  • Contractor: James Construction Group, LLC
  • Let: September 22, 2021
  • Construction Contract Amount: $62,565,356.72
  • Anticipated Completion: Fall 2023/Spring 2024
  • Approx. 8.0 mile on mainline
Segment 3 - LA 435 to LA 40/LA 41
  • Under Construction
  • Contractor: Brown Industrial Construction, LLC
  • Let: July 21, 2021
  • Construction Contract Amount: $45,964,769.53
  • Anticipated Completion: Fall 2023/Spring 2024
  • Approx. 5.6 mile on mainline

July 11, 2021 Update

Segment 1 - LA 434 Interchange to LA 36
  • Right-of-Way Map – Final ROW Map preparation is on-going
  • Final Plans Development – scheduled for completion 1/28/2022
  • Right-of-Way Appraisal/Acquisition –Anticipated to start following ROW Map completion.
  • Construction – Letting scheduled for FY 23/24
Segment 2 - LA 36 to LA 435
  • Right-of-Way Map – Completed
  • Final Plans Development – 98% complete (scheduled for completion 7/30/2021)
  • Right-of-Way Appraisal/Acquisition – Currently ongoing-15/39 parcels acquired
  • Construction – Letting scheduled 9/8/2021
Segment 3 - LA 435 to LA 40/LA 41
  • Right-of-Way Map – Completed
  • Final Plans Development – Final Plans Complete
  • Right-of-Way Appraisal/Acquisition – Right of way acquisition complete
  • Construction – Letting scheduled 7/14/2021



Project Highlights:



LA 3241 will be a new four-lane divided highway connecting I-12 to Bush, La. Below are the main points:
  • 19.8 miles from La 434 north La 434/I-12 intersection
  • Broken up into three (3) segments, with Segment 1 located in District 7, from LA 434/I-12 Interchange to LA 36
  • Utilizes abandoned rail corridor
  • Provides an alternative north/south connection
  • Reduces congestion/delays for south bound travelers to I-12
  • Enhances economic development in surrounding parishes
  • Total estimated construction cost: $210M

Segment 1 main points:
  • Southernmost segment
  • LA 434/I-12 Interchange to LA 36
  • 6.2 Miles in length
  • One bridge structure over Fire Tower Road
  • Utilizes both concrete and asphalt pavement
  • Utilizes Roundabouts at I-12 Westbound Ramps, Krentel/Dixie Ranch Rd., Legend Blvd., Tamanend Way, and Relocated LA 434

Plan Development

  • Right of-Way Map - 60% complete
  • Final Plans Development – 60% complete
  • Right-of-Way Appraisal/Acquisition – Yet to be started
  • Construction cost: $80M
