Meet Jimmie

A True Louisianan

James "Jimmie" Davis III has spent his entire life in the great "Sportsman's Paradise" state of Louisiana. Born and raised in the Greater New Orleans area, Jimmie received a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering Technology at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. Jimmie is happily married with three Louisiana born-and-raised daughters. When he's not working, Jimmie spends his days fishing and spending time with family. He is proud to call District 7 his home and takes pride in aiding its citizens in building a better tomorrow.

Government and State Service

After being employed as a Safety Officer at the LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) for 16 years, Jimmie retired as Senior Safety Officer in January 2020 to fully devote his time serving on the St. Tammany Parish Council. Prior to his state employment, Jimmie spent 21 years at Schlumberger Technologies as Senior Engineer and Senior Training Engineer.

Jimmie served on the St. Tammany Parish Planning and Zoning Commission from 2007 – 2019. He resigned as Commissioner to pursue his campaign for District 7 Council.

Council Representative

Jimmie was elected as District 7 Council Representative in the St. Tammany Parish October 2019 election and will serve the District until 2024. He uses his platform on the Council to tackle important District 7 issues with an emphasis on:

  • Land Zoning and Preserving the Development of Single-Family Residences
  • Smart Small Business and Residential Growth
  • Encouraging Citizens to become Involved and Informed in Parish Government
  • Drainage and Treatment Plant Concerns
  • Infrastructure Needs and the Revitalization of Blighted Properties
  • Traffic Impact Analysis Review
  • Protecting the Natural Beauty of District 7
